COMMERCIAL MATTING PLACEMENT

Types and shapes of edges for commercial entry mats

ENTRY MATS EXPLAINED
Inside Placement:
Indoor mats usually are carpet-like nylon or olefin mats that do not have any holes for drainage. Inside mats can be tufted, textured or have images imprinted on them. Tufted mats are great at drying shoes and provide some scraping as well. Raised texture mats dry shoes and aggressively scrape shoe soles to dislodge debris. Valleys in between the raised parts provide a place for debris to be trapped. Mats with artwork reinforce brand while keeping floors clean and tidy.

Outside placement
The most important factor to pay attention is if the mat is UV resistant. Direct sunlight is probably the most important factor to consider buying exterior mats as many of them are not tested or tested poorly when exposed to direct sunlight .Outside mats perform an initial scraping in order to get most of the debris off shoes before a person enters an establishment. Some outside mats are heated to melt snow and ice. These come in various sizes to lay flat as well as in stair tread sizes. These are mostly made of rubber; however, we carry heated stair treads made of aluminum as well. In some instances carpet-like mats are used outside. A low profile stand-alone mat is a great basic mat for all entrances. Carpet tiles and roll good matting also may be used outdoors depending on the weather and architecture of the doorway.

Recessed well / Vestibule placement:
custom-made mats that have alternating strips of scraping or drying material with either hard vinyl or aluminum frames. Popular for their durability and ease of maintenance. The area underneath these mats can collect quite a bit of debris before they need to be cleaned. Recessed matting is used in upscale and/or busy entrances. You will find these mats in nursing homes, cruise ships, medical buildings and busy mall entrances. Based on the fillers and colors used these mats are highly customizable.
