How to Keep Carpet-Like Entrance Mats Clean 1. Vacuum Daily Interior mats are constructed with either nylon or olefin surfaces designed to wipe residual soil, dust and moisture from shoes. They are most effective when used in conjunction with high performance entrance mats. They should be vacuumed daily using either a dry or wet/dry vacuum. 2. Routine Maintenance As needed, interior mats should be cleaned and/or spot cleaned using a neutral cleaner followed by rinsing. If the mat becomes excessively wet during the cleaning process, it should be allowed to dry thoroughly before returning to service. Nylon mats will require a longer drying period and should be positioned where they can drain during the drying process. 3. Deep Cleaning Interior mats can be deep cleaned using any method used for carpeted floors. It is recommended that you use a neutral, solvent free cleaner if possible. In the event a solvent is used for removing oil, grease, or gum type spots, take care to thoroughly rinse the solvent from the mat before it is allowed to dry for return to service. 4. Floor Preparation Prior to the mat being put back into service, it is recommended that the floor where the mat will be placed be cleaned to remove dust and dirt. This will allow the mat to grip the floor more effectively reducing mat movement with traffic. How to Keep Rubber Mats Clean When must the mat be cleaned? Daily or depending on usage. How should I clean the mat? Scrub thoroughly with a brush or broom and rinse with hot water. What should I use to clean the mat? Mix mild detergent OR non-butyl degreaser with hot water. IMPORTANT (Unless your mat has been tested for use of these chemicals): • DO NOT use BLEACH or any BUTYL-BASED DEGREASER regardless of where the mat is used. Usage of these chemicals will void the product warranty. • Exposing the mat to any other chemicals may adversely affect the service of this product. • Improper cleaning, handling, folding, or use of commercial dishwashers for cleaning mats will shorten expected useful life of the mat and may void the warranty. How to Keep Anti-Fatigue Mats Clean 1. Daily Cleaning Anti-fatigue mats should be cleaned daily by sweeping or brushing to remove loose soil and debris. These impurities can cause excessive wear on the surface of the mats and shorten product life. The floor under the mats should also be kept as clean and dry as possible to protect the bottom of the mats and reduce mat movement. 2. Routine Cleaning Anti-fatigue mats should be cleaned regularly with water-based cleaners to remove oil and grease where needed. We do not recommend the use of solvent-based cleaners. It is important to use cleaners strong enough with proper agitation to remove fats and other food related oils. Research has shown that even grease-proof rubber can be affected by grease and oil if the grease and oil are allowed to remain in contact with the mat for extended periods of time. We recommend a thorough cleaning at least weekly to avoid prolonged contact of grease with the rubber. How to Keep Rubber “Finger” Brush Mats Clean 1. Sweep/Brush Daily Exterior mats should have dirt and debris removed daily by either sweeping or shaking out the mat. 2. Routine Maintenance Periodically exterior mats may be cleaned by pressure washing or with a water hose. Use of harsh chemicals or solvents should be avoided. |
